The Society has been in existence since 1893 and its objectives are to foster the practice, enjoyment and advancement of all forms of stereoscopy - pictures in three dimensions.

New members are welcome with or without experience in stereo photography. They will find help and advice given gladly by more experienced members and assistance is always available in obtaining stereo cameras and viewers. In addition materials for mounting transparencies are on sale to members at reasonable prices.

The Society Journal 36 pages including full colour cover and centre spread is published quarterly with articles featuring and information relating to the theory and practice of stereoscopy. There are also regular articles covering the Society’s activities and world-wide stereo news and views, as well as details of new 3-D equipment and second hand items offered by members.

Between September and April there are monthly meetings held on Saturday afternoons at 2.30pm at the University College of London, Cruciform Building, Lecture Theatre 2,  Gower Street London WC1
(See programme for details of Location).

Meetings are also held in Coventry for the Midlands area. They usually consist of two distinct parts, each addressing a different aspect of stereoscopic practice  (see programme for further details).

There are a number of Postal Groups in the UK each consisting of around 20 members who circulate transparencies and prints. Each person regularly contributes a slide or prints which is returned on completion of a circuit with written comments from other members of the Group. For those who prefer it and new members, there is a "View Only" Group which facilitates the study of other peoples work. Other groups include Computer Stereo and View Magic prints.

The Annual Convention over a long weekend is held at different attractive centres in the UK. Visits are arranged to places of interest, evening programmes of slide shows, Saturday morning Workshops and discussions by members from the UK and overseas

The Librarian has books on stereo for UK resident members to borrow. Back issues of the Journal are also available for sale.

Our Exhibition attracts entries from members all over the world, and the slides and prints entered are shown at our meetings in London and Coventry and at the convention. Our entry this year in the ISU Clubs' Folio was taken from the award winning entries in the Exhibition, as selected by members attending the Annual Convention. If you are a member of the Society and would like to enter your images for the Exhibition you can download the entry form for slides here and prints here

For joining form and information please contact us or right click on picture and "Save as" to download pdf version which can be opened in Adobe Acrobat Reader and printed .
