The Stereoscopic Society holds a weekend convention every year, generally in May or June (Friday evening until Sunday night with most members staying over until Monday morning).

The highlights of our convention include 3D projection sessions presenting some of the best 3D shows from our members and around the world. Usually these will take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening with extra activities in the hotel on Saturday
morning including our AGM followed by an informal display 3D equipment by members or table top workshops of equipment and techniques.  There are also a small number of sales tables of new and used 3D cameras and viewing equipment and images and books.

Sunday we have an optional all day excursion to local places of interest suited to a photography club outing, typically large museums, old country houses with colourful gardens etc. Although an optional activity virtually all convention attendees go on the excursion and find it a very friendly day out and a great opportunity to get to know fellow society members and mix with like minded people, a great time to discuss cameras and settings etc. There is often an extra activity arranged on the Monday such as a local country walk for anyone wishing to join in before heading home or making a longer weekend of their stay.

The convention is a very friendly weekend and about half the members attend with their wives or partners, the annual get together has become a highlight for many in their calendar with many extending their stay to make a short holiday.  Typically eighty to a hundred people attend the convention with around ten or more from overseas either society members or members of similar 3D clubs in other countries keen to associate with other 3D enthusiasts.
