Convention Information
The Stereoscopic Society Convention 2023 will be held again in Harrogate – at the Cedar Court Hotel, from Friday 26th to Monday 29th May 2023. Many people weren’t able to attend last year and there is so much to see nearby we are going again. If possible please stay at the Cedar Court hotel if attending the convention, the function room and facilities have been negotiated based on the society filling a certain number of bedrooms.
Please contact the hotel to book your room as instructed below and let the organisers know your intention to attend.
There is only a small charge for attending the convention and if you wish to come on the Sunday outing all monies will be gathered at the convention there is no need to send any money in advance to the society as in previous years. Cheques and cash accepted at registration. PayPal and bank transfers, a few days before also accepted.
Registration fee to attend the full 3 Day of the convention is just £5 this year or £2 per day if you just wish to attend one or two days perhaps if you are local.
The highlights of our convention include 3D projection sessions presenting some of the best 3D shows from our members and around the world. As normal these will take place after dinner on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening with extra activities in the hotel on Saturday morning including workshops, displays and sales tables.

Excursion:
Sunday’s excursion will be to York. There will be a country walk on Monday for anyone wishing to join in. Tea and coffee will be served at various times each day. Lunch will be available on the Saturday within the hotel at an extra charge, or the town centre is a few minutes walk away.
Harrogate is a Victorian spa town and one of Yorkshire’s most stylish and elegant destinations with its beautiful gardens, historic buildings, boutique shopping and amazing Stray parkland surrounding the whole town.
Locality:
The 4-star Cedar Court Hotel is only a quick stroll away from some of Harrogate’s must visit attractions including the famous Bettys Tea Room, the unique Moorish-style Turkish Baths, the Harrogate Royal Theatre, and the Valley Gardens. The 4 Star Cedar Court Hotel overlooks 200 acres of the pristine Stray parkland giving tranquil views from the bar and dining room and is just a 10-minute walk – all flat – from Harrogate Train Station.
This is a large hotel with 100 bedrooms of a contemporary and modern style. We will enjoy Private Dining as a group each evening as a single sitting. All bedrooms are non-smoking and with en-suite facilities, television, telephone, complimentary high-speed WiFi, tea and coffee making equipment. The hotel has a fitness room and is also dog friendly.
A/V setup:
Projection will take place in the large and well-ventilated Cedar Suite which has a very high ceiling to allow comfortable clear views of our 3D screen. It is a lot larger room than Southampton, allowing our usual 100+ seat theatre setting or social distancing if required and plenty of surrounding space for displays and workshop and sales tables.
Hotel:
The price to stay at the hotel is £80.00 Dinner, Bed and Breakfast per person per night during the Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights of the convention. That is a little more than last year but in 2022 we were paying rates set for the 2020 convention which were honoured. There is no single supplement. Complimentary car parking has been arranged (150 spaces), there is normally a charge. Please remember to enter your car registration details into the hotel system in reception.
The hotel has a block of bedrooms reserved for us, so please book in good time to avoid disappointment.
For those of you who want to extend your stay and explore further afield, additional nights may be booked but are in short supply and you will be given best available rate at time of booking. It is a bank holiday weekend.
You may cancel your hotel booking up to 4pm of the day before arrival, there after subject to full payment.
If you decide to cancel, please let the convention organisers know before the hotel, we can often swap rooms to a waiting list of attendees rather than the hotel release them for general sale.
