5 Oct 2013: Chairman Andrew Hurst

INTRODUCTION TO 3D

This meeting will consist of a number of short talks by Society members on the basics of 3D imaging together with illustrative presentations in the form of displays and projected image sequences.

The meeting will be open to members of the general public as a showcase to promote the art of stereography and the Society.

2 Nov 2013: Chairman Mike Hillyard

ARCHITECTURE

Following a successful presentation of this subject In London earlier in the year, Mike Hillyard will present a number of digital AV shows and image sequences contributed by several Society members on the topic of Architecture. This is architecture in the broadest sense: unusual/historic/ancient/modern buildings – churches, palaces, castles, houses, bridges, grand designs or even cottages.

7 Dec 2013: Chairman Andrew Hurst

A) STEREOGRAPHY BY DR BRIAN MAY

If possible we hope to invite Brian May to talk about his new book entitled Diabelleries.

Alternatively we shall show the 3D TV programme he made for Sky TV: A Brief History of 3D.

B) TDS EXHIBITION 2013

In the second half we shall be projecting the compilation of the accepted entries in the Third Dimension Society’s latest competition. This is always a delightful programme with excellent stereo images.

4 Jan 2014: Chairman Barry Aldous

A) BRING AND DISPLAY

‘Bring and Display’ is a play on the expression ‘Bring and Buy’ which it could also include!!

This will be an opportunity for members to bring along examples of their work along with artefacts relating to that work; cameras, reference books, prints and slides, viewers and so on; a sort of mini exhibition.

B) PROJECTION OF MEMBERS’ IMAGES

Members are invited to bring to the meeting short sequences of digital images (on any theme) for projection. There will be a mini competition to select a winner!

1 Feb 2014: Chairman Bob Pryce

A) STEREOPHOTOGRAPHY IN ARCHAEOLOGY AND EGYPTOLOGY:

A SHORT HISTORY

Society member Dr Paul Nicholson will look at the way that stereophotography has been used in archaeology and Egyptology against the backdrop of trends in 3D photography and its use as a social history document.

B) LOCAL INTEREST SHOW

Coventry Cathedral celebrated its Golden Jubilee in 2012 and local members, Ian Hastie, Francis Heath and Bob Pryce, attempted to capture something of the Cathedral in 3D photography. AV shows about the Cathedral along with others depicting other features of the Cathedral Precinct viz. Holy Trinity church and Coventry’s ancient Gulidhall will be presented. We are inviting interested parties from the Cathedral and Holy Trinity etc to attend.

1 Mar 2014 Chairman Neville Jackson

A) A TRIBUTE TO COLIN CLAY (1927 – 2013)

Various members will pay tributes to Colin for his many valuable contributions to the Society. His organising skills for folio groups, his engineering skills and his willingness to help anyone with technical problems are legendary, and he was responsible for transforming some early members’ get-togethers in the Midlands into the Midlands Section Meetings that we enjoy today.

B) COLIN CLAY - STEREOGRAPHER

Our projection session will be devoted to the stereo photography of Colin, who worked with film only. He has left a wealth of stereo images of great quality and we shall be able to enjoy seeing part (albeit a small fraction) of his streereo legacy.

5 Apr 2014 Chairman Geoff Ogram

A) SPM QUESTION AND ANSWER SESSION and 3D SURGERY

For the first half of this session a panel will answer questions about SPM (StereoPhoto Maker) which can be submitted at the March meeting or on the day itself. The second half of this session will include SPM demonstrations and a 3D Surgery service. Bring along those broken or non-working 3D viewers or
cameras for advice from other knowledgeable members.

B) STEREOSCOPIC SOCIETY’S ANNUAL EXHIBITION

Our projection session will consist of the entries to the Society’s Annual competition. A chance to see some excellent images by members. Will you agree with the judges’ choice of winners?
