The Society has been in
existence since 1893 and its objectives are to foster the practice,
enjoyment and advancement of all forms of stereoscopy - pictures in
three dimensions.
New members are welcome with or without experience in stereo photography. They will find help and advice given gladly by more experienced members and assistance is always available in obtaining stereo cameras and viewers. In addition materials for mounting transparencies are on sale to members at reasonable prices.
The Society Journal 36 pages including full colour cover and centre spread is published quarterly with articles featuring and information relating to the theory and practice of stereoscopy. There are also regular articles covering the Society’s activities and world-wide stereo news and views, as well as details of new 3-D equipment and second hand items offered by members.
Meetings are also held in Coventry for the Midlands area (see programme for further details). The Librarian has books on stereo for UK resident members to borrow. Back issues of the Journal are also available for sale. The Annual
Convention, over a long weekend is held at different attractive
centres in the UK. Visits are arranged to places of interest, evening
programmes of slide shows, Saturday morning Workshops and discussions by
members from the UK and overseas
