Coventry Programme 2024-2025

2024:

5th October:
A selection of superb AV shows from worldwide contributors, first shown at the 2024 Convention.

2nd November:
Following its success last April, the open critique session returns – up to 6 images each, in side-by- side format, or a short AV show (maximum 3 minutes) in AVI, WMV or MP4 format – This is an opportunity for members to have their work discussed and analysed in a friendly non-competitive manor by their peers. The annual exhibition closing date is in January so a great chance to get feedback on a potential entry as well.

7th December:
Show & Tell – A forum for members to discuss new ideas and techniques and / or display and tell us more about their work or latest project, including the equipment used to produce it.
The Festive Social will allow members to chat, and hopefully partake of some light refreshments as we bring 2024 to a close.
A bring and buy table will be available to allow members to pass on unwanted items or perhaps purchase a last-minute gift.

2025:

4th January:
Sadly, Greg our projectionist was unwell and unable to attend so we altered the day’s programme. Bob Pryce kindly stepped in at very short notice and provided us with a range of his early AV shows, presented in Anaglyph format, using his own projector.

1st February:
AV5 show from 2024 – This popular competition has become a feature of the annual convention and offers us an eclectic mix of superb presentations.
A short promo AV about the 2025 Stereoscopic Society Convention.
Bob Price gives us another opportunity to be both entertained and educated by a range of his outstanding AV shows Bob is known for producing.

1st March:
An afternoon of themed A/V shows on the theme of (Something or Somewhere Special) all produced by members of the Stereoscopic Society.

5th April:
Stereoscopic Society Annual Exhibition 2025 – a chance to see all the accepted entries and winners in a slickly produced show created by Mike Hillyard.
A selection of AV presentations by Ray and Nancy Moxom from Australia.

We will also continue to meet Virtually – Online on a weekly basis as we began doing through out the Pandemic, presenting 3D images and 3D Videos and discussing anything 3D related.

Library usually available.

Midlands Meeting – How to Find Us:

Via Train either go to Coventry main railway station which is 25 minute walk (1.1 mile) to the church hall (or over £4 by taxi), or catch the less frequent local train to Canley Station only 15 minute walk away (0.7 mile).

From Coventry station; immediately on exiting the station barrier,go through the doors on the left, then left as if going back to the platform, go under the road-bridge by the platform, diagonally across the car park towards the retail park where there are steps to the long footbridge over the railway to Spencer park. Just over the footbridge turn right, down the path by the railway to Albany Road, turn left along Albany Road, past the City Arms, a J D Wetherspoon pub recommended for good value food and drink. Continue straight along Earlsdon street, with it’s many cafe’s and shops, and a few minutes beyond you will find St Barbara’s Church at the junction with Beechwood Avenue. (1.1 mile 25 minutes.)

From Canley station the most direct walk is to exit the station on the north side and go down Canley Road past the Go Outdoors warehouse and turn right by The Farmhouse pub into Beechwood Avenue, over the footbridge adjacent to the narrow railway road-bridge and continue down Beechwood Avenue bearing right until you reach St. Barbara’s church on your right. (0.7 mile 15 minutes.)

Via Bus from the Coventry main railway station A number 11 or 12 bus. The bus stop is on the main road outside the station (Warwick road). Immediately on exiting the station barrier, go through the doors on the left, then left as if going back to the platform, walking up about 15 steps to the main Warwick road where you will immediately find the bus stop on this side.

Catch either the Number 11 or 12 bus, about a 10-minute journey, shortly turning right down Spencer Ave, then L/R/L into Belvedere Road, and right into Earlsdon Ave South.

Get off just before the roundabout on Earlsdon Ave South by the City Arms pub, across from the church and library.

Walk left around the City Arms pub and up Earlsdon St through the shops and beyond, which becomes Radcliffe Road and bending right becoming Rochester road.  At the cross roads St Barbara’s Church will be facing you. (8 minutes walk)
