This year we Came To You.

online audience wearing 3D glassesSociety members have been coming together since 1927 to share with each other their fascination and knowledge of stereoscopy. In 2021 due to the Covid-19 Pandemic we had to meet online and invited everyone to join us. Watch the recordings below on YouTube.

There is the usual mix of 3D photographs and 3D videos from our members and stereophotographers around the world. Many presented as fascinating 3D Audio Visual shows or 3D Videos. The highlights being the exhibition of our Annual Competition and also an audience judged competition of short 3D shows.

There are also some educational historical and technical talks.

Audience judged competition of short 3D shows no longer than five 5 minutes, always a fun collection of innovative shows.

The Early Years of Stereoscopy in Australasia

The Overseas Folios of The Stereoscopic Society – Ray Moxom and Max Pow
Collecting Stereo Views – an insight into a member’s collection – Derek Medhurst

Close-Up 3D Photography and Timelapse – Barry Aldous presents some of his equipment and techniques for doing 3D Close-up and Macro photography, including Time-lapse sequences. Including Close-Up shows from other members.
3D Under the Microscope – John Chapman shows us Stereomicroscopy.

The Vistascreen Story (So Far) With Guest Appearances from Weetabix & Others
Tim Goldsmith, avid 3D collector and camera dealer will present this fascinating talk about the very British 3D collectable Vistascreen and Weetabix – the 3D system that inspired a budding rock star into 3D.
Presentation of 3D shows from members & 3D photographers around the world.


Saturday 8 May 2021 : 6:30pm – 7:30pm UK BST
3D Quiz A short light hearted 3D Quiz to test your knowledge and socialise with others.
Organised by Tim Goldsmith.


Sunday 9 May 2021 : 2pm – 4pm UK BST
Excursion to the past : As we cannot go on a physical excursion like normal conventions, we will look back at previous years with members 3D images and shows.


Sunday 9 May 2021 : 7pm- 9pm UK BST
Annual Competition Exhibition Show 2021 a highlight in the society calendar.
Followed by social chat to round off the weekend.


The 3D images and shows are shown in Side-by-Side Parallel format, so you will need a suitable viewer, prismatic glasses, or to reduce your sharing window size for free-viewing. It will be necessary for everyone to be muted during the shows.
(There may also be some anaglyph requiring suitable glasses.)

The sessions took place using the Zoom online meeting platform.
All sessions were streamed live to YouTube via The Stereoscopic Society YouTube Channel, the recordings can be found above.
